Brocade Fibre Channel Connectivity Supports and Enhances New EMC VMAX3 and XtremIO Product Families
Brocade has positioned its Gen 5 Fibre Channel Storage Area Network (SAN) solutions as the foundation and key unifying element for the recently announced EMC VMAX3, and XtremIO storage systems. Gen 5 Fibre Channel, Brocade’s purpose-built network infrastructure for data centre storage, is optimized for all-flash storage systems and helps maximize their performance, scalability, manageability and availability.
EMC, a long standing OEM partner of Brocade, will sell the networking vendor’s Gen 5 Fibre Channel SAN directors and switches under the Connectrix brand. Fibre Channel offers the highest-bandwidth capability, fast application response time andsuperior reliability which enable applications to perform tasks significantly faster on flash systems as compared to traditional disk-based arrays.
The VMAX3 Family, touted by EMC as an ‘enterprise data service platform’, embeds storage infrastructure services like cloud access, data mobility and data protection directly on the array. This delivers new levels of data centre efficiency and consolidation by reducing footprint and energy requirements. Supplemented by Brocade Fabric Vision technology, which is integral to the Connectrix solutions, the system simplifies SAN management, delivers storage network-wide visibility and helps SAN administrators realise significant cost savings.
“Together, Brocade and EMC are providing Middle East enterprises with the most reliable and high-performance storage network infrastructure. The breakthrough capabilities designed into our Gen 5 Fibre Channel SAN solutions help simplify administration and reduce operational costs, allowing our customers to build new innovative use cases and realize true flexibility and agility in their data centres,” said Yarob Sakhnini, regional director, MEMA at Brocade.
The EMC end-to-end Fibre Channel SAN solutions for high-end and all-flash storage are now available from EMC and its global network of channel partners.
