Huda Beauty, a fast-growing global beauty brand, opted for Synology to build their central file storage and collaboration platform to not only streamline their multimedia production workflow but also save substantial subscription costs.

With the number of employees rapidly grew to 200, Huda Beauty actively sought a storage solution that would meet their storage and remote access requirements while also being cost-effective. “We initially used a popular SaaS enterprise plan. However, as the company expanded, the upload and download speed of large media files proved to be a productivity bottleneck. Additionally, the user-based billing model gradually became a heavy burden. In light of these challenges, we have come to recognize the necessity for a new approach to our infrastructure.” said Ryan Aldrin, Head of Technology Operations at Huda Beauty.

To address the storage needs of hundreds of terabytes of media files and accommodate future data growth over three to five years, Huda Beauty deployed the highly scalable Synology SA Series rackmount as their primary storage platform. With 10GbE high-speed networking connectivity capabilities, employees now experience accelerated file access speeds within the local network, boosting efficiency and productivity.

Furthermore, to fulfil the remote access requirement, Huda Beauty utilized the built-in Synology Drive package to establish an enterprise private cloud. This allowed employees from any locations to remotely access files stored on the Synology system through a web portal or a desktop client, providing a similar experience to public cloud services.

“With the utilization of Synology, we eliminated the productivity bottleneck caused by slow public cloud file transferring and saved $100,000 annual cost when compared to the previous solution. What’s even better is that the web portal and client access have make it possible to smoothly implement the solution without significantly changing user behaviors.” added Ryan. “We highly recommend other companies in similar situations to consider Synology.”
