Fortune US has named Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, as one of the world’s 50 greatest leaders. He is ranked at No. 40 on the list which also includes German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffet, former US President Bill Clinton, Apple CEO Tim Cook, actress Angelina Jolie, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz and girls’ education activist Malala Yousafzai. Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi, the Dalai Lama and Pope Francis are also part of the list and are, according to the magazine, “energizing their followers and making the world better…”
According to the magazine, Mahindra is “a third-generation corporate aristocrat” who has aggressively expanded the big conglomerate through acquisitions in autos, computer services, aeronautics, and more, while maintaining the company’s standing as one of India’s most sought-after employers. It goes on to state that the company remains well regarded in Indian society as he has reinforced a policy of integrity in a notoriously corrupt environment.
