Broadens Cloud Horizons with New Virtual Fabric Solutions and Extends Ethernet Fabric Leadership
Innovations to Brocade VCS Fabric Portfolio Enable Seamless Transition to the Cloud
Brocade has launched its VCS Virtual Fabric and VCS Fabric Gateway for VMware NSX solutions. Aimed at cloud service and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (Iaas) providers, these solutions are specifically designed to support multitenancy allowing segregation of traffic between tenants while still permitting the sharing of infrastructure.
“Brocade’s unique approach to networking has evolved out of a deep understanding of the broader trends shaping the IT networking industry. This awareness has made us pioneers in the field and is why we have for years now been strong advocates of automation, virtualization, multitenancy, scalability, reliability and performance. I have no doubt that our newly launched VCS solutions will prove to be key enables in even the most ambitious cloud aspirations,” said Samer Ismair, MEMA Network Consultant, Brocade Communications.
Brocade’s VCS Virtual Fabric offers an evolutionary approach to multitenancy and remains hypervisor agnostic, giving customers the choice to utilize more than one hypervisor vendor in their data center. Furthermore, the solution simplifies tenant provisioning and automates the process using open APIs and OpenStack. For customers who prefer overlay architectures, such as VMware NSX, to virtualize their networks, Brocade in collaboration with VMware has developed an integrated and high-performance gateway solution VCS Fabric Gateway for VMware NSX with general availability planned for March 2014.
Along with these new launches, Brocade also announced the extension of its VDX switch portfolio with the addition of Brocade VDX 6740T-1, the industry’s lowest-cost entry switch which includes an easy upgrade path from 1GbE to 10GbE speeds without replacing hardware (an attractive feature considering there is a large installed base of 1GbE servers) and the Brocade VDX 8770 Modules for 100GbE, 40GbE and 10GbE data center environments.
