Smart Grids and Smart Meters Summit Kicks Off

Key topics include; role of IoT in Smart grid technology evolution, smart grids and management of massive amounts of data, resilient architectures for smart grids etc.

The 5th Edition of Smart Grids and Smart Meters Summit opened yesterday in Abu Dhabi with a hail to utility organizations to understand the implication and savings brought by the integration of technology into energy grids.

Organized by Flemingulf, the day-1 of the summit opened with the inaugural address to all the participants by H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, followed by the remarks from the event chairman- Doreb Ebrahim, Technical Advisor to the Chairman, Head of Control Center Projects, Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA), UAE.

H.E. Eng. Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary, Ministry of Energy, UAE delivered the opening keynote speech. Moreover, a host of thought provoking presentations by leading experts from across the region kept the audience engaged with topics such as “The Role of Internet of Things in the Smart Grid Technology Evolution”, “Smart Grids and the management of massive amounts of Data”, “Resilient Architectures for Smart Grids” to name a few.

The exhibition field featured leading technology providers such as Etisalat, Telliformer, Oracle-Utilities, Amplex, Baer, C3 Energy, Monenco and Eclipse and many more who showcased their portfolio of services followed by intensive networking amongst delegates. Mr. Deep Banerjee, producer of the summit said- “Smart Grids has progressed to the second level which focuses on the efficiency and the Renewable green part aiming towards the DEWA initiative of distributed renewable resources generation programme”.
