Meraas and Alibaba to Boost the Cloud; Big Data and Cloud Boost Middle’s East IoT Market Growth to Outpace Global Average, and Reach USD 2 Billion in 2015
In 2015, the Middle East’s combined IoT combined hardware and revenue is set to reach USD 1.95 billion, with growth outpacing the global average, according to Deloitte. The Middle East and Africa is set to post the world’s highest growth of cloud data traffic, increasing more than 8-fold from 30 exabytes in 2013 to 260 exabytes in 2018.
Among a large portfolio of high-profile exhibitors at this year’s GITEX Technology Week is Meraas, which will address their recent joint venture with AliCloud, Alibaba Group’s cloud computing arm, to set up a new enterprise for cloud services aimed at public and private organizations in the region.
“We aim to raise industry standards and provide state-of-the-art cloud solutions that contribute to translating the objectives of the visionary leadership of Dubai and the UAE, in line with Dubai Smart City and UAE Vision 2021 goals. GITEX Technology Week 2015 will be an ideal platform to showcase our offerings in cloud computing, digital consulting, system integration, custom solutions, entrepreneurship and training across industries,” said a Meraas spokesperson.
“As the region increasingly embraces digital transformation, GITEX Technology Week 2015 will host new opportunities for organizations to discover the latest cloud and Big Data solutions to embrace digitization, and become more agile, and have greater visibility across their operations and customer experiences,” said Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Exhibitions & Events Management, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
