DEWA reviews Cisco advances in smart city; visits Cisco HQ in Dubai to understand solutions and plans for IoT and smart city
A high-level delegation from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) visited CISCO’s headquarters in Dubai. The delegation was led by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, with Dr. Amina Al Rustamani, CEO of TECOM Business Parks and Rabih Dabboussi, General Manager of CISCO UAE. The delegation from DEWA was introduced to CISCO’s latest developments in smart city technology.
The delegation took note of CISCO’s comprehensive list of ideas and solutions that support Dubai Government’s transition into a smart city, such as the City Infrastructural Management Solutions, that were adopted to achieve the successful development of Dubai Design District (D3).
The delegation also viewed models of other international smart cities and learned how their facilities could be controlled via the ‘CISCO Controller Wall,’ a new technology that makes use of ‘The Internet of Things’ to control smart city facilities.
“We realise the importance of our role as the provider of electricity and water in the Emirate, and seek to continuously improve our services to meet the increasing needs of all Dubai’s residents,” added Al Tayer.
“We always seek to discover new developments in smart city technology and build partnerships with other international and regional bodies to broaden our horizons and benefit from the innovative development of these advanced services, transforming Dubai into one of the greatest cities to live and work in, while making efficient use of the city’s resources,” concluded Moza Al Akraf, CIO of DEWA.
