The threat and security landscape in the MEA region is no different to those faced around the world. All of the major security issues faced by organizations, for example Insider Threats such as data breaches, Ransomware, and malvertising, are not limited to certain countries. Companies in the MEA region should also be training employees about social engineering attacks and phishing emails, as it’s important that IT is equipped with the right technology to prevent attacks that the human eye can’t see, no matter where they are in the world. As attackers have become more sophisticated, more organisations are leveling up their security stack to include User Behaviour Analytics software, which monitors activity and creates baselines for each user so that when suspicious activity occurs, IT is alerted and the threat can be mitigated and future threats prevented.

Talking about the journey with Bulwarks and new solutions on board, Dietrich Benjes, VP, UK,Ireland and Middle East, Varonis Systems says, “ Our journey with Bulwarks has been great. It has allowed us to gain real traction the region. One of the most common underlying causes of data breaches is previously undetected insider access and unusual behaviour, such as the compromise of user accounts and their resulting abuse. The emergence of User Behaviour Analytics reinforces the need to protect and monitor unstructured data — the largest, most valuable and most sensitive type of data in an organisation and therefore the target of most cyberattacks. Varonis’ customers are finding great success with DatAlert and its UBA threat models, which analyse behaviour and detect threats throughout the lifecycle of a breach. We believe the capabilities in DatAlert represent the most advanced analytics and predictive threat monitoring available to help organisations stem the rise in data breaches. From spotting signs of ransomware activity, like Cryptolocker, to catching unusual employee activity on sensitive data, DatAlert has helped to stop numerous breaches.
