Etisalat was announced as an official national supporter of the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 that will kick-off in Abu Dhabi on 17 October, 2013 with an opening match between Brazil and Slovakia followed by a UAE vs Honduras match
The competition features 24 international sides, including current tournament champions Mexico, as well as teams from Italy, Argentina and the UAE. The tournament will be played at football stadia across six cities: Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, with the grand final taking place in Abu Dhabi on 8 November, 2013.
Ahmed AL Hashimi, Senior Vice President – Brand and Communication, Etisalat UAE said, “Etisalat believes it has an important national role to play through supporting sports and the youth of UAE. We are an integral part of the UAE and as such proud to promote our nation’s involvement in such a prestigious international sporting competition. We are committed to developing the country’s sports sector because of its importance to the nation’s youth and positive impact on the society.”
His Excellency Mohammed Abdulla bin Bdoua, Tournament Director, from the Local Organizing Committee said, “We are pleased to welcome Etisalat on-board as a national supporter for the FIFA U-17 World Cup taking place in the UAE this month. Etisalat’s support will hugely contribute to the promotion of this tournament which will bring together the best young footballers from across 24 nations to the UAE for a fantastic event.”
Etisalat has a strong history of supporting sport in the UAE, and football in particular. Just last month Etisalat announced its support to the UAE national team and the President’s Cup.
