Dubizzle Group UAE Joins Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Initiative to Promote Inclusivity and Support

Dubizzle Group UAE has announced its participation in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative. The global movement promotes awareness and understanding of hidden disabilities, ensuring that individuals with challenges that may not be immediately apparent are supported in both professional and social settings.

The Sunflower is a symbol for people living with non-visible challenges to indicate they might need additional support, understanding, or time.

As part of the initiative, Dubizzle Group’s UAE-based entities Bayut and dubizzle are reinforcing their commitment to fostering a more inclusive and empathetic workplace by appointing certified Sunflower Ambassadors. These ambassadors have been specially trained to better understand the needs of employees with hidden challenges and equipped to provide personalised guidance, playing a vital role in creating an environment where all individuals feel understood, valued, and empowered. Staff members who have completed the training will wear distinctive white Sunflower badges, signalling their availability to help any employee seeking support. Additionally, affected individuals can chose to wear green Sunflower badges to discreetly communicate their need for assistance.

“By joining the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, Bayut and dubizzle are reinforcing our commitment to ensuring that every employee, including those with hidden challenges, feels acknowledged, respected and supported,” said Suzanne Gandy – Director of Human Resources at Bayut and dubizzle.

Andy Faulkner, CEO of  Topland, exclusive partner of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower in the Middle East said, “We admire Dubizzle Group’s commitment to foster an inclusive culture within their organisation by embedding the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower. Through this programme, the Sunflower wearers are recognised and offered the support, patience, and understanding they require.”

The Dubizzle Group’s participation in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative underscores the organisation’s commitment to creating a positive and inclusive working environment for its employees. The initiative builds on a recent recognition received by Bayut and dubizzle as the Best Workplaces in the UAE™ 2024 by the Great Place To Work® institute, where both entities were ranked 21 among leading international companies. Receiving this recognition for two consecutive years is yet another accomplishment that highlights the entities’ continuous efforts to foster a supportive, diverse workplace where employee wellbeing is actively prioritised.
