The META region continues to be right at the forefront when it comes to developing and implementing technologies that are helping to shape the world. From Dubai announcing its smart city initiative and launching its cyber-security strategy; to government bodies’ readiness to invest in technology; and the majority of organizations embracing digital transformation, the region is currently seeing the benefits of business and lifestyle transformation through the means of advanced technology.
However, with technological advancement comes greater opportunity for sabotage by cybercriminals, who are increasingly seeking to compromise the growing infrastructure of local businesses. In fact, almost 60 percent of organisations in the Middle East have been targeted by cybercrime in the past 24 months, according to a recent report. Furthermore, a third of Middle East business leaders think that cybercrime is likely to be the most disruptive crime to their organisation in the next 24 months, especially as companies continue to expand digital and always-on service provisioning. For criminals, disruption of service via cyber-attacks is most certainly an attractive option.
Additionally, while facing a growing, persistent set of security threats, organizations in the Middle East also need to keep up with and adhere to legislative change.
For these reasons, it is not surprising that business leaders are prioritising cybersecurity – now an imperative part of any board level discussion. These leaders who understand the dangers of data breaches also know the importance of understanding how their IT estate operates. As a result, many companies in the META region are looking for reliable security partners with proven expertise in global security and compliance, who understand the region’s business industry and possible cybersecurity threats.
This is one of the key reasons why I recently joined Secureworks™ as Channel Director for the META region. With 25 years in the information technology industry, having previously held leadership roles in sales channel, marketing and business development capacities at regional and multinational firms, I have the necessary experience to develop valuable relationships with strategic partners across the public and private sectors in the META region. The region is building its cyber defences at scale, and I am very much looking forward to connecting META business leaders with the wealth of security expertise Secureworks has to offer.
Secureworks is uniquely positioned to help these leaders, as we enable more than 4,400 clients in more than 55 countries to harness the power of the network effect by collecting and analysing data and events from any technology, environment, and industry, with the Secureworks Counter Threat Platform™. The platform is enriched with event feeds from all of our clients and processes 250B events per day. In turn, this insight is enhanced by security engineers, researchers, and analysts, bringing human and artificial intelligence together to maximise our clients’ security.
