The emirate of Dubai is ranked as the ‘Most Innovative City’ and is now taking its leap to be the smartest city. This came out after the publishing of 2thinknow’s 2018 report which published the annual ranking of the most innovative cities.
With the deployment of smart solutions and technologies, the emirate is on track to be the smartest city. The Smart Dubai has saved Dubai government around Dh4.3 million in the past 13 years. This feat was achieved through shared infrastructure and smart services for over 60 government entities. Today, the government is saving Dh5.6 for every one dirham spent by Smart Dubai.
With more than 100 smart initiative and 1,000 smart services in the past three years, the government is wanting private sectors also to benefit from the Smart City development. The plan is for all the city infrastructure to be connected through IoT. With connected devices, directly contributing to improve decision making, is based on real-time data and increased operational efficiencies.
Dubai also partnered with Schneider Electric and SAP to test its application in a special zone in ‘Dubai Silicon Oasis’. The area has been a testing ground for applications like smart irrigation systems.
