Google has always placed high importance on cybersecurity. This acquisition is further proof of how seriously Google takes security as they build and maintain one of the world’s most forward-thinking technology companies.

In addition to the $10 billion the company committed to advancing cybersecurity, they also have internal teams like Project Zero and initiatives like BeyondCorp that help shape the direction of the cybersecurity industry.

This is another consolidation of two major players in cybersecurity, which will continue to take place as organisations recognise the value of leveraging a platform-based approach to securing their infrastructure.

Google will be able to integrate Mandiant’s industry-leading threat intelligence to better protect its customers in both the consumer and enterprise.

This will strengthen Google Chronicle and its ecosystem of partners, so that customers benefit from an enriched threat intelligence dataset for extensive threat detection, incident investigation, response and remediation.

Threat intelligence and security research are critical to the advancement of cybersecurity and defense against threat actors.

Organisations that can provide security solutions backed by sizable threat intelligence datasets will always have the edge because they can proactively protect their customers as threats become present in the market.
