World CIO 200 Summit Oman edition recognises 15+ top IT decision makers

The World CIO 200 Summit 2022 Oman edition was successfully held on 3^rd October 2022 virtually. The event was joined by attendees, keynote speakers and winners. The World CIO 200 Summit Oman edition felicitated nearly 15 top IT decision makers across the categories of Leader CIO, Legend CIO, Master CIO, and Next-generation CIO.

Attendees and keynote speakers were welcomed by Anushree Dixit, Global Head, Global CIO Forum and Ronak Samantaray, CEO and Co-Founder, GEC Media Group. They also shared the collective vision of the Global CIO Forum as a platform of knowledge sharing and networking for like-minded CIOs globally, with the audience and congratulated the winners.

The event followed the theme of #LeadX – Leading through transformation, where we were joined by thought leaders to share their transformative journey in the ICT Industry in Oman. Abdullah Al Barwani, General Manager Corporate Security, Omantel; Dr Salim Al-Shuaili, Director Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Projects Unit, National Center for Space, Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology; and Thuraya Al-Harthi, Senior Specialist – Innovation and Emerging Technology Ministry of Transport, Communication, and Information Technology.

Opening Keynote

During CIO 200 Oman Edition, Abdullah Al Barwani, General Manager Corporate Security, Omantel advised CIOs to plan their change management initiatives. Some organisations have a clear and well documented business strategy, so CIOs can base their IT strategies on the basis of this documented strategy. In the case where it is not well documented, do your our own homework and due diligence, and present a business use case to them. CIOs can present their proposed new new digital services to the business users to help in change management, he advised.

Leading Transformation Through Change

During CIO 200 Oman Edition, Dr Salim Al-Shuaili, Director Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Projects Unit, National Center for Space, Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology mentioned that while the Covid-19 is over the world may still face further pandemics. So, people need to prepare for pandemics, make it a sustained effort and apply it to hybrid education.

Towards Digital Transformation

During CIO 200 Oman Edition, Thuraya Al-Harthi, Senior Specialist – Innovation and Emerging Technology Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology highlighted the paths to implement the government digital transformation program.

Master CIO: Experience of more than 15-20 years and unparalleled technological experience in a career life span.

Leader CIO: Experience of 10-15 years and multiple domain expertise.

Next-generation CIO: Experience of 5-10 years or less and undertaken mammoth projects in a less span of time.
