“The previous edition of Oracle Open World, which is a major platform for Oracle to showcase its latest offerings, was all about the public cloud,” says Alain Ozan, Technology Vice President ECMEA of Oracle.

Oracle now offers a complete suite of SaaS applications and platform services available on the cloud with the addition of Supply Chain Management. Customers can seamlessly move their SaaS applications between public and private cloud. All SaaS applications are built on open standards so can run on any open standards platform. There are also industry-specific solutions for hi-tech, retail, financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, media and entertainment and consumer packaged goods.
“What is unique with oracle is that we have the intellectual property for the three layers.” Hovering over the security part of the cloud service offered, Alain says that “There is no third party involvement in our services as all the machines are owned by Oracle, so the security is entirely in our hands.” Oracle also displayed its M7 chip- Oracle’s built in security. “Nobody at Oracle can read our customers’ data in the cloud. All data is encrypted and the keys are held by the customer.”
Talking about the adoption of the Cloud in the Middle East, he said that many organizations are increasingly showing interest in moving to the cloud. We have training and education programs in Oracle. We are enriching our catalogues to cover the new products. We have workshops called Journey to cloud for customers where we understand the business objectives their current on premise landscape and advise them accordingly for the cloud. We draw a roadmap for the solution. We have partners to develop such services and we are ensuring that our partners are also well educated and we are enhancing our Oracle partner program as we want them to be well educated on our products.”
