Continuing its successful legacy of 8 years, EMC once again participated at the IDC CIO Summit 2016. EMC joined as the CFO partner this year, lending its expertise to the CFO workshop that is aimed at enabling both IT and finance leaders optimize budgets and leverage intelligence driven solutions to fuel the business.
Elliott Young, Head of Transformation Work Group, EMAE at EMC, in an exclusive interview with EC MEA, said that the Gulf countries and specially the Middle East have been on a very advantageous platform as the region had shown great pace in leaping forward to 3rd platform technologies and disregarding the traditional IT Models.
“There is a delicate balancing that the CIO has to do. They have to be relevant to the CFOs to demonstrate how they can reduce the costs and improve the margins of the operations,” sais Elliott. The best way to achieve this balance is to embrace ITaaS (IT as a Service). By using ITaaS you can start to move operations to the hybrid cloud model and hence save some cost by disregarding the traditional applications and spend them on new revenue generation applications. So, CIOs are increasingly becoming the most trusted partners for the business.”
Elliott also presented a session at the summit that focused on enabling CFOs to uncover the new Digital Transformation investment cycle expected for 2016 and the key drivers behind emerging business models that enterprises and business units may need to adopt and turn around to achieve a sustained competitive advantage.
