Akamai Technologies introduced its Enterprise Threat Protector capabilities in Dubai to provide improved DNS performance for customers’ using the service in the region. Enterprise Threat Protector is designed to provide customers quick-to-deploy and easy-to-manage cloud-based protection against the impact of complex targeted threats such as malware, ransomware, and phishing. It is designed specifically to address the “intelligence gap” in DNS infrastructure. Using threat data gathered through Akamai’s Cloud Security Intelligence capabilities, Enterprise Threat Protector is architected to layer critical intelligence onto a company’s recursive DNS requests, preventing users from accessing malicious domains and lowering risk for businesses of all sizes. The value of Enterprise Threat Protector comes from the solution’s ability to better determine the “intent” of a DNS request from the enterprise.

In addition, Enterprise Threat Protector can also disrupt communications between devices within an enterprise that have already been infected with malware and the bad actors’ command and control (C2) servers. C2 is a common, Internet-based mechanism to control malware once it has infected systems.

“We believe that deploying our Enterprise Threat Protector infrastructure in Dubai will provide customers in the region with proactive security and protection, and improved DNS performance,” said Hans Nipshagen, Regional Business Leader Middle East for Akamai. “Companies are faced with a complex threat landscape where the volume of threats continues to rise and attacks constantly evolve.”

“Bad actors are now targeting DNS as an attack vector since many organizations do not protect or monitor recursive DNS traffic. Enterprise Threat Protector is a quick-to-deploy and easy-to-manage cloud-based solution that can help companies proactively address this DNS security gap.”

“With Enterprise Threat Protector, we’re providing our customers with a powerful, intelligent solution that can help detect and stop targeted attacks in their tracks” said John Summers, VP & GM, Enterprise Products, Akamai.
