Batelco Hosts ‘Batelco Talks’ Session on Data Protection

In line with its efforts to provide employees with an interactive platform for learning, development and knowledge exchange, Batelco hosted its most recent ‘Batelco Talks’ featuring Buthaina Amin, Director of Legal Affairs at Bahrain Economic Development Board and a Board Member of Women in FinTech Bahrain who shed light on the importance of data protection in the digital economy.

This session held recently at Batelco’s Hamala Headquarters highlighted the importance of Data Protection in a data driven digital economy and included an introduction to Bahrain’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL).

Ms. Amin provided a brief analysis on the most important issues arising at an international level in relation to data and the methods implemented to tackle such issues, with a special focus on the Kingdom of Bahrain. The session included an overview of the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) recently enforced in the country, including who it impacts and who the key players are.

The session, which was very well received by the employees, concluded with a question and answer session where Ms. Amin provided knowledgeable responses that greatly enhanced the session.

‘Batelco Talks’ is a mini-educational initiative focused on topics that are suitable for rapid business development and technology, presented by a selection of Bahraini leaders from different sectors. The high participation rates reflect staff’s interest in targeted educational events and activities, which contribute to raising their knowledge and expanding their awareness in information technology, communication and digital transformation.
