Personalized healthcare set to transform healthcare in future, say experts at 3rd Government Summit
In the next 10 years, you may not carry your mobile phone but the phone may be embedded in your body. The healthcare system may have all the information about your lifestyle, and you would have undergone a gene sequencing process based on which you would be benefiting from a personalized healthcare programme. This is the kind of future in healthcare innovation that experts have predicted at the Government Summit being held in Dubai.
Addressing a session titled ‘Healthcare Innovation: Investing in the Next Breakthrough Idea’, Chris Coburn, Founding Executive Director, Cleveland Clinic Innovations, said considerable consolidation is taking place in innovation research with more collaboration taking place between the private sector and government.
Jonathan J. Fleming, President of Network for Excellence in Health Innovation – USA said one major area of development is research in personalized medicine. “Governments would have to rethink what they would do with the growing number of elderly people, how best they can contribute to the economy. Governments could possibly utilize the vast experiences of the elderly in several areas, enabling them to remain productive and active,” Fleming said.“The future in healthcare is all about interaction between available data, health plan and health providers,” he added.
