New Switch Delivers Industry’s Highest Port Density and Improved Scale-Out

Brocade has unveiled the latest enhancements to its VCS fabric networking portfolio which included introduction of the industry’s highest port density switch and support for Vyatta as well as third-party OpenDaylight based controllers. The move highlights Brocade’s commitment to SDN and NFV as the way forward for enterprise networking.

Yarob Sakhnini, regional director MEMA at Brocade stated that while Brocade is aware that the Middle East will not yet see rapid uptake of SDN, the company is helping its customers lay the necessary groundwork. “Fabrics enable organizations to increase flexibility and automation in their networks and provide an excellent foundation for future SDN networks,” he said. The company is also encouraging organizations to test the SDN waters and is currently offering its Vyatta controller as a free download.

Brocade will soon release Network OS 6.0 which will see the integration of the VDX switches with the Vyatta controller as well as other third-party controllers, made possible by OpenFlow 1.3 support.
