Tell us more about your role in Saudi Electric Company.

I am responsible for the formation of a solid Digital Transformation Initiative team. I lead the team as the Initiative manager. The Digital transformation involves applying technologies to product, service and business model innovation. This shift necessitates significant changes in strategy, culture, organization and competency that extend beyond the IT organization to encompass all business functions, but especially product management disciplines.

What does Digital Transformation mean for your company?

Digital transformation comprises many aspects that include leveraging the latest technologies or enhancing the current processes in the company. Digital transformation depends on many perspectives such as reducing expense and increasing revenue, customer satisfaction, and operation enhancements.

The ambition of Digital transformation is to support the LoB (Line of Business) and the company’s management to achieve the company’s new vision as a ‘Smart’ company that is driven by efficiency and customer-centricity by propelling IT to support LoB initiatives in sync with the company’s objectives.

Tell us more about your Digital Transformation Initiative team, since this is one of the very new terminology/teams surfacing in modern organizations.

The Digital Transition Initiative team shoulders the responsibility of following up with the strategic project and helping IT  to select the best practices, scientific studies and the right techniques to be applied correctly and efficiently.

The team works with our technical partners to assess the current technical situation and helps them identify a clear and comprehensive roadmap for the digital transformation initiative by exploiting best practices and latest technologies, creating a robust business module to drive digital transformation using data and technologies.

How is your vision for digital transformation walking hand in hand with the Saudi National Vision 2030?

We started to develop flagship and reliable initiatives on the company’s infrastructure delivering value across the company and our objective is to build the digital future of the company that supports the national vision 2030 and leading the country’s digital transformation through actionable initiatives.

We attended 100s of hours of workshops with digital transformation domain experts to better understand the mandates of establishing the Digital Transformation Architecture—  a 360 degree view for the company’ LoB projects and initiatives. We then went on to consolidating LoB initiatives down to critical trends in transformational operational technologies such as  AI, Blockchain, location analytics, Mobility, IOT and Collaboration, while maintaining ultimate cyber security.

During this assessment, we achieved the following: –

  • Alignment of Energy and IT Trends
  • THE COMPANYIT Transformation Compass
  • Situation Analysis of the Lines of Business
  • 360 Transformational Radar
  • Consolidation of 45 LoB initiatives into 6 Operational Technology Platforms for faster & efficient execution.

During this review, we formed a comprehensive overview of strategic projects cross-the company’s initiatives and discovered how to enable IT  to provide consistency between IT and OT technology in all LoB systems.

Which are the major projects established so far?

There are several strategic projects that have been implemented , including but not limited to Mobility , Billing , customer services , MIMO and collaboration using latest technologies  and Best Practices. In addition to that there are a number of planes and strategic projects for 2019 to execute and support LoB demands such as Big data infrastructure, fraud management, Chatbot, and Customer Relation Management solution.

In media communication and collaboration currently, we  fulfill our users needs in different location and positions at the company and enhance our collaboration infrastructure to decrease travel cost and accelerate the company’s Digitization objectives and establishing simplified communication between employees and managers, enable mobile workers, women workers etc to connect to network from anywhere at any time.

Our collaboration infrastructure is a world-class reliable operation module and works efficiently, smart as customers expect and sustainable by appalling latest standards and industry solutions.

Besides, Digital transformation team reviews the company’s strategy and works with the planning team to keep aligned with the digital transformation roadmap, also work with the restructuring team and provide the necessary support to provide required experience, infrastructure, and application for each physical or virtual entities.

The team also provided the necessary support to the SLA team to review IT services continuously and re-pricing IT services and follow up chargeback services for the right beneficiary.

The Digital Transformation Team is working within IT to improve, expand or create a new value of digitization in line with LoB through technical ambassadors to build confidence between LoB and IT to accelerate their work.
