Dubai Electricity and Water Authority launched the Ideal Home initiative, in cooperation with Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Health Authority, the Community Development Authority in Dubai, Dubai Smart Government, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and the General Directorate of Civil Defence.

“This initiative encourages Dubai families to compete positively in applying the standards set by Dubai government, proceeding from our efforts to support the Smart Dubai initiative, which was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world. A smart city is that one which makes people happy, makes their lives easier, and improves livings standards, in addition to improving resource-use efficiency and streamlining and integrating services. The Ideal Home initiative works to instil a culture of sustainable use amongst families, while motivating others to adhere to best practices.”, said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

DEWA focuses on a number of factors to determine the winner of the competition. These include the individual use of electricity and water and family use based on monthly bills, efforts made to set air conditioning to 24 degrees Celsius, the use of solar energy in houses, the use of modern economical irrigation techniques, water tank cleanliness, the use of energy-saving light bulbs and environmentally-friendly appliances, and the family’s awareness of the best ways to save electricity and water.
