Joining GISEC 2025 alongside its distribution partners at Bulwark, DNSFilter is showcasing its latest web filtering technologies, aiming to bring advanced cybersecurity solutions to the regional market. Daniel McClean, Director of International Sales at DNSFilter, talks to GEC Media during GISEC 2025.
Can you explain what DNSFilter does and how it enhances cybersecurity?
We focus on one thing—and we do it really well: keeping the bad guys off your networks and devices. While the path to doing that can be simple or complex, we achieve it through DNS security, also known as protected DNS. It’s a technology that’s been around for a while, but we’re keeping it innovative by incorporating AI-led threat filtering.
What sets your AI-driven cybersecurity apart from other players in the market?
One major differentiator is that we own our security intelligence. A lot of players in this space rely on third-party feeds, but because we manage our own, we can leverage it faster and respond to threats more proactively.
Can you share a recent milestone or partnership that’s driving growth?
Absolutely. We work on a global scale with a variety of partners—some I can mention, some I can’t. But in this region, our partnership with Bulwark has been especially rewarding. They recently celebrated their 25th anniversary, and it’s been a fantastic opportunity to build long-standing relationships with value-added partners who truly understand our technology.
How do you measure customer success and satisfaction?
A key metric for us is retention. We have a 92%+ renewal rate, which speaks volumes. It means once our product is sold, it stays sold—clients recognize the ongoing value and stick with us.
How does GISEC 2025 compare with previous years?
I’ve attended a couple of times before, and this year definitely feels busier. I’ve noticed more channel partners, which is great, because partners are the gateway to customers. That’s the biggest difference I’ve observed this year.
The theme of GISEC 2025 is ‘Securing an AI-Powered Future’. How do you interpret this challenge?
From our side, we focus on leveraging AI to deliver better, faster, and more accurate security services.
What message would you like to share with the CISO community?
Don’t forget the basics. It’s critical to secure all devices and all networks, especially as IoT and OT environments continue to expand. Everything ultimately connects to the Internet—so that’s where protection must begin. A strong, foundational approach to web-level filtering is essential.
