The 2021 Initiative is the first of its kind in the world that aims to further strengthen government service to meet public needs
The Advisory Board of Dubai Smart Government (DSG) concluded its third meeting at HH Dubai Ruler’s Court headed by H.E Ahmed Bin Humaidan, head of board and Director General of Dubai Smart Government, in the presence of the nine board members.
The meeting tackled the ‘Dubai Government: Towards 2021 Initiative’ based on the highest levels of excellence and success that was launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, during last week’s Government Summit. The 2021 Initiative is the first of its kind in the world that aims to further strengthen government service to meet public needs. It complements the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to establish a smart government.
During the meeting, board members discussed the objectives of the Initiative aimed at improving public service in terms of efficiency and quality to make it comparable with the private sector. Under the Initiative, the government will deliver state-of-the-art services through a single platform that will give the public easy access to government agencies and will allow them to conduct transactions via a uniform PIN code.
The discussions also highlighted Dubai’s potentials and strengths that can be utilized to implement the Initiative before 2021. The participants underscored that the government must further strengthen its competencies and take advantage of Dubai’s successful experiences and robust technical infrastructures in order to address future challenges in the course of implementing the Initiative.
H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan said, “The successful implementation of the ‘Dubai Government: Towards 2021 Initiative’ involves integrating the efforts and the potentials of government entities in order to cooperate under the highest levels of transparency and commitment towards achieving a future smart government within the time frame granted by the leadership. It is essential to the setting up of a uniform strategy covering all government entities to ensure their compliance with Initiative 2021 in a safe and highly professional manner. After the Initiative’s successful implementation, the entire world will come to Dubai to learn from our experience.”
