Launched at GITEX for unified access to government services
Dubai Smart Government launched the first phase of MyID portal in the presence of HH Sheikh Mansour Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum during the 33rd edition of Gitex Technology Week 2013. HH Sheikh Mansour was also briefed on the range of smartphone apps and latest eServices and initiatives provided by DSG.
The MyID launch aims at easing login procedures for applicants and customers of Dubai government entities using smartphones or Internet by providing one single sign-on eliminating the need for registering with each government entity separately as MyID verifies the identity of users with the chip of the authorized Emirates ID card from Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA). Registrations for MyID began immediately after the launch boosted by daily raffle draws which will continue on all days of Gitex 2013.
H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai Smart Government, said, “In compliance with the initiative of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and in implementation of the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to expedite the shift to smart government, we have provided the MyID portal for unified access to Dubai Government. This comes in line with the concept of connected and integrated smart government, which is the most advanced concept in the ongoing process of eTransformation in Dubai.”
Bin Humaidan added: “This unified electronic access has strong security standards using the latest technologies applicable to Dubai Government’s government services bus integrated with the Emirates ID card issued by EIDA.” He pointed out that the use of the unified electronic access currently allows over 50 services provided by 5 government entities to be implemented and will be applicable in its first phase to over 20 government entities in Dubai. The service will be subsequently expanded to include semi-government entities, which will contribute to strengthening the orientation towards smart government for easing the life of customers by providing unified access to all Dubai Government’s services from one secure place.
