Dennis Woodside has been appointed as the new CEO and President of Freshworks Inc, effective immediately. He will succeed Girish Mathrubootham, who will transition to the role of Executive Chairman. Mathrubootham will continue to serve as chairman of the Board of Directors, while Woodside will also remain a member of the Board.
Since its founding in 2010, Mathrubootham has grown Freshworks from a startup in Chennai to a top SaaS company in San Mateo. He led Freshworks through an IPO on Nasdaq in September 2021, making it the first India-born SaaS firm on a US exchange.
“When I first proposed this next step to the Freshworks Board, we were starting to chart the next phase of our company’s journey. We brought Dennis on board to partner with me on crafting an ambitious growth plan, and my hope was that he could eventually lead the team of talented employees around the world to execute it, which would allow me to spend more time on the long-term product vision, innovation and AI strategy,” said Mathrubootham.
As Executive Chairman, Mathrubootham will stay actively involved in Freshworks’ product vision, customers, and employees. He will collaborate with Woodside on strategic decisions and focus on engaging with product teams in India, customers worldwide, and other stakeholders.
