2017 has been great. Revolutionary change in the primary part of company’s datacentre did lead even more to gaps with regards to backup and recovery being too slow, overly complex and overall incumbent solutions being way too expensive. Those pains as well as strategic initiative drove more than ever the need for change.
What was Rubrik’s game-changing offering for the opex-savvy customer?
Rubrik’s converged and wescale approach in combination with our SLA based management leads to an unprecedented reduction of operational cost. Many of our customers including our BaaS partners got triggered by this when embracing Rubrik.
One of your solution tagline reads ‘Immutability for Ransomware’- What is the claim behind this? How advanced is your ‘recovery with no data loss’ platform?
Applications and data are instantly accessible in an immutable format that is native to the Rubrik platform to safeguard against any attack with days, weeks or months of point-in-time instant recovery. Our filesystem is not accessible over File Services like many traditional backup software and hardware platforms and we don’t utilise a traditional Windows or Unix standard backup server as everything is managed
by the Rubrik cluster intelligence. When a backup server, proxy or fileserver mounts are infected, so are the backups or metadata in the solution of most vendors, this is not the case with Rubrik.
What is your review of the Middle East market? Draw some examples from your recent customer wins or studies?
- We focus on all verticals, industries and enterprises, as we all know that data matters to all the sectors.
- All of our customers today in the Middle East decided to GoForward with Rubrik because of our simplicity, scalability and most of all reducing their TCO, after all, our slogan is #Don’t_Backup_Go_Forward”
- Two of our major projects was to build an “in-country” public cloud by partnering with local service providers where we built it in UAE and KSA to enable customer utilize important services such as “backup as a service”, “archival as a service” and “DR as a service” while making sure that the data doesn’t leave their country.
Tell us more about the vRealize platform? What is the competitive edge of it and what added value does it give to the enterprises?
Using the automation and orchestration capabilities of the vRealize platform and the 100% RESTful API interface of Rubrik, custom-ers are able to create, manage and report all aspects of data protection and recovery. Rubrik supplies customers with dozens of preconfig-ured workflows and API commands using the public online repository Github to integrate our technology with vRealize.
In 2018, for customers who are looking towards modernizing their backup and unlocking new cloud potentials, what is the Rubrik promise that you are offering?
Rubrik replaces 20-year-old backup technologies with a system that delivers cloudscale, simplified, and automated data management. Rubrik can protect machines in the public cloud, archive old data to the cloud or even protect, convert and instantiate on-premises machines in the public cloud for DR. Combined with our RESTful API we can build a fully automated cloud data management platform for customers that are making their first step to the cloud or build a private cloud services portal. Our software was designed and developed from the ground up in the public cloud era. All its capabilities are built with current and future cloud technologies in mind, giving customers the promise that whatever steps they are taking towards the cloud, Rubrik can deliver their data management needs.
