Electronic Flight Bags facilitate the management and processing of Gulf Air’s flight-critical information

Gulf Air’s Electronic Flight Bags were recognized at the MEET ICT 2014 Recognition Awards, receiving the MEET ICT Excellence award for best mobile application.

Receiving the award from Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Communication H.E. Kamal Bin Ahmed Mohammed, Gulf Air Director of Information Technology Dr Jassim Haji said, “On behalf of the entire Gulf Air family, I am honored to receive this award; it is a reflection of our ongoing and longstanding drive to enhance the aviation and travel experience with the latest technology solutions.Our recently launched Electronic Flight Bags facilitate the management and processing of Gulf Air’s flight-critical information while increasing operational efficiency and eliminating paper-based flight materials and this is in keeping with our mission to not only provide enhanced travel solutions but to do so responsibly and with regard to our environment.”

Gulf Air’sElectronic Flight Bags offer advanced information management and deliver more accurate aircraft performance calculations, creating significant time and cost savings while increasing safety and streamlining the management of flight information. Gulf Air moved from a paper-based flight manual to an electronic process with Electronic Flight Bags rolled out across the airline’s fleet and pilots earlier this year.

MEET ICT is an annual platform bringing together key industry players to discuss regional strategy towards a sustainable ICT development in the region.
