Dell Technologies is proposing to become public trading corporation again after being a private owned company for the past five years. Rumours say that Dell is trying to swap privately held shares in itself with the “Trading Stock” it created while taking over EMC. In 2013, Dell went private after a $25 billion transaction with Silver Lake.
In 2016, Dell acquired EMC for $67 billion. After this, Dell got 82% ownership of VMware. They then created a publicly traded tracking stock named as DVMT that will track the performances of VMware. Dell is said to potentially acquire these DVMT trading stocks of VMware. This would be the step by Dell to gain more control over VMware. As part of the deal VMware will pay $9 million to its stock holders.
