According to the latest industry figures reported by IDC and Gartner, Lenovo remains the clear global leader in PCs for the 1st quarter of 2014, a position it has held since the 2nd quarter of 2013.

In reporting shipments for 1Q 2014, IDC said Lenovo achieved 17.7% global PC market share compared with 15.3% share for 1Q 2013. This was 10.5% year over year growth and is in line with Lenovo’s normal seasonal performance for the quarter. Yang Yuanqing, chairman & CEO, Lenovo, said, “Despite a challenging environment, Lenovo has again proven its ability to outperform the market as the clear global leader in PCs. At the same time, we are leveraging our leadership position in the $200b-plus PC industry to build new pillars for growth. These include smart connected devices (PCs, tablets and smartphones), infrastructure devices (servers and storage), and ecosystem and cloud services. Already, these “Plus” businesses account for 16% of Lenovo revenue. Lenovo is not only number 1 in PCs, but number 2 in the PC + tablet category, and number 3 in smart connected devices globally, demonstrating the balance in our business. We see plenty of room for innovation and profitable growth in PCs, and are optimistic about the future of the industry and our long-term opportunity for sustained success and leadership.”
