Canon Middle East reinforced its commitment to both retailers and consumers by hosting an exclusive two-day event that saw attendees rediscover the power and potential of imaging. EC MEA interacted with Mr. Hendrik Verbrugghe, Marketing Director, Canon Middle East. Excerpts.
Tell us something about your recently held workshop, ‘Rediscover Imaging’. How is Canon rediscovering imaging?
The ‘Rediscover Imaging’ event showcased Canon’s latest and most powerful technology across cameras, printers and projectors, through a series of informative and expert workshops, live workflows, training sessions, photo shoots, networking opportunities and an exclusive gala dinner which together, featured a range of products including Canon’s latest and highly powerful camera – EOS 5DS and 5DS R.
Dubai-based aerial photographer, Hatim Saleh and photographer, and Head of Oman’s Higher College of Technology’s Applied Photography Department, Skyler Burt shared their insights on aerial and food photography, and experiences of using Canon cameras such as the 5DS, 5DS R and XC10. The event was used as a great platform to educate professional and amateur photographers on photography thereby enabling them to rediscover the impact photography can have and create in the world around us.
How did your partners benefit from the event?
The event was attended by approximately 100 key operational decision makers from Canon’s top-tier retailers from across the Middle East and Africa region. Canon reinforced its commitment to the channel community by demonstrating its robust channel support and announcing key incentive and marketing programmes, which were great takeaways for the partners from the event.
Besides, the event educated partners on how digitisation and social media should be at the core of retail strategies and what should shape their retail experience when approaching customers.
What were the key announcements made during the 2 day event?
The main highlight of the event was the announcement of the Canon’s latest and highly powerful camera; the EOS 5DS and 5DS R. Also, in addition to featuring cameras such as the EOS 5DS and EOS 750D, Canon also used the event as an opportunity to showcase a range of imaging products including cameras: the Powershot G3X, the XC10, the EOS C300 MKII, and the Legria Mini X; printers such as the Pixma MG7540 and Pixma Pro-1; as well as the CS-100 connect station, and the WUX400ST projector.
How does your current MPS portfolio look like?
Canon’s current MPS portfolio is at a very positive state of growth with increasing number of organisations showing interest in MPS. In the UAE, the subsidiary Canon Emirates has been successfully responsible for targeting various sectors such as hospitality, banking, finance, medical, oil & gas. Canon’s Managed Print Services segment has the unique uniFLOW Secure Printing solution in its portfolio. Using the solution, users can send their sensitive documents to network printers and have the job printed only when they are physically standing in front of the printer at any different location of the world.
Besides that, Canon Emirates, a subsidiary of Canon Middle East have in the past signed a deal with Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai which entailed that Canon supplies, installs and manages nine units of multi-functional devices including imageRUNNER copiers and i-SENSYS laser printers. Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai chose Canon on the strength of its Managed Print Services.
Also, Canon Emirates signed a long-term Managed Print Service (MPS) agreements with luxury resorts Yas Viceroy, Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa and the Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers, ensuring complete management and maintenance of the print infrastructure for each of these hotels. In fact, Canon MPS has already helped customers to reduce print-related costs by up to 60%. With regular reviews, Canon can ensure that the company’s ROI will be achieved and targets are met now and in the long term.
