Riverbed Now Recognized as a Leader in Three Gartner Magic Quadrants, and a Visionary in Another
Riverbed Technology has announced its position as a “Leader” in Gartner’s 2014 “Magic Quadrant for WAN Optimization.” This is the seventh year that Riverbed has been recognized as a leader in the WO Magic Quadrant, and the third Magic Quadrant in which Riverbed holds a leadership position including the Magic Quadrants for Application Performance Monitoring and Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics. In addition, Riverbed is positioned as a “Visionary” in the 2013 Magic Quadrant for Application Delivery Controllers.
“Riverbed is proud to be recognized by Gartner for the seventh consecutive year as a leader for wan optimization,” said Paul O’Farrell, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Steelhead Business Unit. “Steelhead launched the WAN Optimization market 10 years ago and has set the standard for the industry continuously for a decade with over 50% market share and unmatched performance and true ease-of-use. Steelhead is the only app acceleration solution that is part of a complete platform, the Riverbed Application Performance Platform – that detects and helps customers resolve application performance and data delivery issues before an end user even notices a problem or calls the help desk to complain.”
According to Gartner “most networks carry a variety of traffic types of differing characteristics and importance, and many organizations are striving to manage this traffic to optimize the response times of critical applications and reduce costs, given that bandwidth continues to represent a significant proportion of operating expenditure for wide-area data networks.” In response, “the WAN optimization market remains dynamic, with new solutions to support various cloud solutions for SaaS and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) deployments, broader support for virtual WOC solutions and a general decline in WAN bandwidth pricing.”
