New high density platform supports up to 1728 splice connections in single outdoor distributor; Solution key to expansion of FTTH networks in region

Fiber optic cabling is the backbone of the high performance broadband networks being deployed by telecom and network operators across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). To help these organizations deploy ever increasing numbers of fiber optic connections at critical nodes and distribution points, R&M, the Swiss structured cabling specialist, has unveiled its HD SCM street cabinet. This new tray system can house up to 50 percent more fiber optic connections than a similarly sized box, and has been specifically designed for connecting, distributing and managing a large number of optic fibers in a tiny space.

“Few people realize just how much the technological advancement in the MENA is depended on fiber optic cabling. High speed broadband internet, 4G LTE mobile networks and video surveillance and security are just a few examples of applications that require fiber deployments. As the need for these services explodes, telcos in the region are rapidly expanding their fiber networks. This means an unprecedented growth in the number of fiber connections and consequently, the need to better deploy and manage all these cables,” said Shibu Vahid, Head of Technical Operations, R&M Middle East, Turkey & Africa.

“With the new HD SCM, we have delivered industry highest packing density with the simplicity of installation that is a key feature of our innovative solutions. This enables network operators to quickly and efficiently deploy this product for highly scalable Fiber to the Home (FTTH) solutions. As fiber optic roll outs across the region grow in size and complexity, we will continue to bring solutions to market that meet and exceed market requirements,” he said.
