Please describe the recent contract for provision of the UVSS solution for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022?

[Osama Al Zarba] We started working on the project a couple of months back with Qatar-based systems integrator Gulf Networks Security Solutions. The competition was very intense, but ISS was finally selected by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy as a preferred partner.

Specifically, 40 SecurOS UVSS, Under Vehicle Surveillance System units were installed at vehicle checkpoints at the eight stadiums hosting World Cup matches in and around Doha along with three logistics areas and a fan zone to safeguard visitors and make the screening process safer, faster and more efficient.

The units, which are portable and can be easily installed and dismantled with minimal damage to roads, enable security personnel to scan the undercarriage of vehicles for foreign objects, such as explosives or contraband, in as little as three seconds. Powered by NVIDA GPUs, the units can also be connected to ISS’s industry-leading LPR technology to keep track of vehicles entering and leaving the venues.

Additional features, such as visual and magnetic suspicion maps as well as sliding zoom and 3D magnifying glass – all of which are unique to the SecurOS UVSS offering – enable users to quickly find any potential threats present underneath the vehicle.

Please describe the services and solutions that you provide in Qatar.

[Osama Al Zarba] Our portfolio of products and solutions are powered by the SecurOS platform, which is recognised globally as one of the most robust and flexible video management offerings available. The success of our solutions remains in translating and adapting them into the local language to meet integrator and end user needs.

Qatar is a very diversified market, and we tend to supply all the industries in both the public and private sectors, especially within government applications where heightened security solutions are required. The SecurOS video management platform is our most widely adopted solution in the market, due to our large portfolio of customer references.

The SecurOS Auto solution, recognises vehicle number plates regardless of their traffic code use, that is private, public, diplomatic, has also seen uptake across the country. We have mounted our cameras at the premises of Qatar Energy and Mowaslat, to name a few.

Additionally, UVSS deployments were a highlight for us this year. In addition to the FIFA World Cup stadiums, the solution has been installed to protect the Qatar Armed Forces, Ooredoo and other governmental premises.

What are your plans for Qatar in 2023 and beyond?

[Osama Al Zarba] Our presence in Qatar is growing, and so is our team. We have expanded significantly and today we are three times the size we were four years ago when we first opened our office.

The country is also a very promising and growing market, and we are very keen to become a preferred partner in the healthcare and oil ang gas industries, which have experienced ever-evolving security requirements.

Additionally, we are expanding to the Sultanate of Oman, which is another fruitful market with large-scale projects on the way. We will continue growing by doing what we have done: listening to our integrators, distributors and end user partners.
