What leadership skills are critical for women in male-dominated tech environments?
The tech industry is rapidly evolving, and business expectations are higher than ever. In this highly competitive environment, as women leaders, we can make a significant impact by being empathetic in our leadership. There is nothing more powerful than being both compassionate and firm when making decisions and interacting with teams, as this fosters productivity and creates a positive work environment.
How do you advocate for diversity in team composition or project outcomes?
I believe it’s essential for everyone’s voice to be heard, and that the best ideas and opinions should be put into practice to achieve the best outcomes. Sometimes, unexpected perspectives arise that strengthen the decision-making process, leading to better results. This approach fosters an inclusive environment and results in well-rounded, innovative project outcomes.
How do you handle being the only woman in a meeting/ team ?
In the simplest way, I see myself as just another member of the team in any meeting. I contribute in the most fitting manner when it’s my turn. What matters most is mutual respect as individuals and for the roles we each hold. I believe I’ve cultivated this over the years, and I’m in a good place now.
What advice would you give women negotiating work-life balance in high-pressure roles?
I believe that nowadays, we’re already living a hybrid life. We tend to do work while in our personal space and handle personal matters when we’re at work. Ideally, this creates a balance between work and life. The real imbalance arises when we neglect our health for work or other priorities. This is a significant issue that deserves attention, and the solution lies within us. We need to figure out a routine that works best for us. I understand it’s easier said than done, but with determination, it’s not difficult to put into practice.
How can technology itself drive gender equality?
Empowering oneself with the latest technology and tool and adapting to the evolving demands of the workplace is the most effective way to harness technology and remain at the forefront. The next step would be to build connections with other women, sharing valuable insights and best practices, which fosters mutual growth and development within the community of women.
