On 12th May 2026, the prestigious World CIO 200 Summit – Malaysia Edition successfully concluded at M Resort & Hotel Kuala Lumpur, bringing together some of the nation’s most influential CIOs, digital leaders, innovators, and technology visionaries under one roof.

Hosted by the Global CIO Forum, the summit served as a powerful platform for collaboration, leadership exchange, and future-focused conversations shaping the next era of enterprise technology. The Malaysia edition reflected the summit’s global vision – uniting technology leaders to explore innovation, resilience, AI-driven transformation, and the growing importance of collaborative leadership in a rapidly evolving digital economy.

The Global CIO Forum also extends its sincere appreciation to the Malaysia Country Leadership Team – Hafizzudin Mohd Sabi, Ts. Ahmad Kamal Hasan Basri, Mohd Hanapi Bisri, James Thang Joo Ming, Ts. Saiful Bakhtiar Osman, and Zainol Zainuddin – for their exceptional dedication, leadership, and unwavering support in making the World CIO 200 Summit – Malaysia Edition 2026 a grand success.

The event opened with an inspiring Global Board Address by Venkatesh Mahadevan, Global Board Member of the Global CIO Forum, followed by the Welcome Note from James Thang, Vice President – Global CIO Forum Malaysia and CIO at HELP University, who emphasized the importance of stronger CIO communities, knowledge-sharing, and cross-industry collaboration in driving sustainable digital transformation.

The summit agenda was thoughtfully curated around four central pillars — Community, Knowledge, Health, and Human — creating a meaningful balance between technology advancement and leadership evolution.
A major highlight under the Community segment was the keynote session titled “The Collaborative CIO – Powering Cross-Industry Tech Alliances” delivered by Ts. Izzat Aziz, Chief Information & Digital Officer, JLG Investment Holdings. The session explored how modern CIOs are increasingly becoming ecosystem builders, driving strategic alliances beyond organizational boundaries.

Industry-leading partner sessions added immense value to the summit discussions. Alloy Chua, Senior Solution Architect at OutSystems, delivered a compelling keynote on enterprise agility and application modernization, while Rajeev Dutt, Managing Director – MEA & APAC at Swiss GRC, shared insights into governance, risk, and compliance in an increasingly complex digital environment.

The Power Panel discussion titled “From Competition to Co-Creation: Why CIO Communities Win Faster” brought together respected technology leaders including Dzulastra Latib (P&O Insurance Co Bhd), Jason Heng (YTL Communications), and Alex Tan (Yinson), moderated by Ts. Ahmad Kamal Hasan Basri (Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM). The session highlighted the growing importance of strategic partnerships, shared innovation ecosystems, and collaborative problem-solving among technology leaders.

Under the Knowledge segment, Chua Yong Howe, Chief Digital Officer at UEM Edgenta, delivered a thought-provoking keynote on “AI, Data Sovereignty & The Next Knowledge Economy,” focusing on responsible AI adoption, analytics maturity, and the future of enterprise intelligence. This was followed by a powerful transformation case study presented by Sazul Samsuri, CTO of KAF Digital Bank, showcasing measurable business outcomes through digital innovation.

The Health segment introduced a more human-centered perspective to transformation journeys. Stephanie Liew, Vice President of the Women-in-Tech Wisdom Council at ASEAN CXO Association, delivered an impactful keynote on ethical AI, inclusive leadership, and talent transformation in the digital age.

The Human segment concluded the thought leadership sessions with an engaging fireside chat on “Sustainable Leadership in a 24/7 Digital World.” Moderated by Ts. Ahmad Kamal Hasan Basri, the discussion featured Akmal Nizam Abdul Halim (Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera – LTAT), Ts. Maz Mirza (KWAP Malaysia), and Afhzal Abdul Rahman (Employees Provident Fund (EPF), who shared valuable perspectives on leadership resilience, cyber crisis management, work-life sustainability, and navigating boardroom expectations in today’s always-connected environment.

One of the most anticipated moments of the evening was the prestigious CIO 200 Recognition & Felicitation Ceremony, celebrating exceptional technology leaders who have demonstrated excellence, innovation, and long-standing contributions to the digital ecosystem.

The prestigious CIO 200 Recognition & Felicitation Ceremony was further elevated by the presence of the Guest of Honor, Datuk Ts. Fadzli Abdul Wahit, Senior Vice President, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), who graced the occasion and presented the awards to the distinguished winners across the Leader, Master, and Legend categories. His presence added great significance to the celebration, reflecting the growing importance of digital leadership, innovation, and technology-driven transformation in advancing

Malaysia’s digital economy agenda.
