At a promotional event in Los Angeles, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk unveiled a futuristic electric pickup truck that looks more like a trapezoid on wheels than a conventional vehicle. Musk described it as a mashup of cyberpunk and vehicles from the Blade Runner movie. Called the Cybertruck, the design might be polarising, but it also appears to have already earned enough of a fan following. On Saturday, just two days after the preview, Musk tweeted that the Cybertruck had received 146,000 orders.

Tesla claims the Cybertruck is designed to have the utility of a truck and the performance of a sports car. The vehicle is built to be durable, versatile and capable, with exceptional performance both on-road and off-road. It will come in three variants. The base single motor rear-wheel drive is priced at $39,999, while the dual motor all-wheel drive will go for $49,999. At the top-end, Tesla is offering a tri motor all-wheel drive for $69,900.

The truck is already available for preorder, though mass production does not start until late 2021.

In the meantime, here are the official specs.
