The BlackBerry Middle East team received two prestigious awards during a ceremony hosted on the side-lines of GITEX 2013, scooping ‘Best GITEX Smartphone Launch’ for the BlackBerry Z30; and ‘Best Affordable Smartphone of the Year’ for the BlackBerry 9720, at this year’s TeknoTel Awards.
Following the success, Nick Horton, Managing Director for Middle East and North Africa, BlackBerry said, “We are delighted to be honoured with two awards this evening for two of our top selling smartphones – the BlackBerry Z30 and the BlackBerry 9720. These are two excellent devices serving different spectrums of the market, yet continue to give BlackBerry users the experience they know and love.”
Toni Eid, CEO of Trace Media and Publisher of TeknoTel said, “We had an overwhelming number of entries and voters for our first year, and are happy to conclude our first Teknotel awards successfully.”

The awards were judged by a panel of TeknoTel readers and editorial staff, and included 10 categories. Award categories were advertised in both TeknoTel and Telecom Review magazines for three months prior to GITEX, and presented at a gala dinner with an audience of 100 GITEX delegates from around the region.
