Amounts collected through the app rise by 418% in 2014
Dubai Smart Government’s mPay app for mobile payments through smartphones saw over AED 163 million collected, resulting in a 418% increase in collections in 2014 compared to the previous year and a rise of 267% in the number of transactions.
Commenting on this progress, H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG Director General, said: “These results clearly indicate the rising pace of smart transformation and our success in fulfilling the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for providing a world-class smart government in Dubai, and in implementing the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, for prompt transformation to smart government in a bid to ease the lives of all the segments of the society and make them happy. This is substantiated by the increasing rates of customers’ adoption of the mPay option for completing their government transactions on one hand and by the rising rate of their confidence in the efficiency and security of this option on the other.”
