Telecommunications giant selects EMC’s Federation Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, Software-Defined Storage and All-Flash storage solutions to power IT operations and fuel innovation

EMC Egypt and Etisalat Misr are all set to undertake a transformational IT project to create an agile and efficient foundation for rapid business and customer growth.

The telecommunications giant has deployed the EMC Federation Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Solution together with EMC ViPR Controller software-defined storage and VMware vCloud Automation Center Suite to drive automation and self-provisioning capabilities to enhance service delivery across multiple lines of business.

Etisalat Misr aimed to revolutionize its IT backbone powered on IT-as-a-Service capabilities that would enable the agility and efficiency to support its ambitious growth trajectory. That’s when Etisalat turned to EMC.

Built on a combination of industry leading EMC and VMware technologies, the new solution enables the IT team at Etisalat Misr to create a single platform to effectively manage both traditional and next generation applications. With ViPR Controller, the telecommunications leader is able to enable new Storage-as-a-service capabilities to optimize costs and storage without adding unnecessary managerial complexity. Adding EMC VNX-F mid-range flash storage to the mix further enables Etisalat Misr to power application performance to aid availability and service delivery.

Khalid AlMansouri, Chief Information Officer, Etisalat Misr said, “The Combination of EMC Hybrid Cloud Solution, ViPR Controller, VNX-F and the VMware vCloud Automation Center Suite enables us to build a foundation to manage future storage and application growth while enabling new automation and auto provisioning capabilities to optimize costs and the use of resources.”

Mohammed Amin, Senior Vice President, EMC Turkey, Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East said, “Etisalat Misr’s drive to achieve an IT-as-a-Service Environment built on the EMC Hybrid Cloud Solution is an outstanding industry practice that highlights how service providers and enterprises stand to gain immense value from balancing the performance, security and compliance capabilities of the private cloud with the agility and cost benefits of a public cloud.”

“We helped execute the strategy—including a business case—using an innovative, tool-based approach to workload analysis that places workloads in the optimal private, public, or hybrid cloud model by analyzing Etisalat’s business and technology requirements” said Lorenzo Lumassi, Vice President of EMC Global Services Middle East.
