The newly launched FO field connectors might be a real alternative to splicing, leading to simplification of home projects in ME.
R&M has introduced FO Field solution which might be a great leap for fiber optic technology. This solution is the first high-end alternative to fiber splicing and consists of field-terminable LC and SC connectors. R&M believes this product will be a especially beneficial to the growing Fiber to the Home (FTTH) market in the Middle East as telcos have been under pressure to rapidly roll out fiber networks for high-performance connectivity.
“The FO Field solution’s ease of installation translates to faster, error-free implementation that results in massive cost savings and greater flexibility for network operators.” said Shibu Vahid, Head of Technical Operations, R&M Middle East, Turkey & Africa.
The FO Field LC and the FO Field SC meet the requirements of the top performance levels Grade Cf/1 and Grade Cf/2, respectively. Extracting performance from field-terminable fiber optic connectors has been possible due to the APC contact surface (APC = Angled Physical Contact) and a low-tolerance fiber guide. Both versions of connectors can be combined with all typical types of cables, with single mode and multimode fibers sized 125 and 250 μm.
