Touch-sensitive screens and capacitive sliders to allow the driver to control various aspects of the vehicle

GITEX visitors stopping at the Lincoln stand have the opportunity to check out the latest version of SYNC MyLincoln Touch in the all-new Lincoln MKZ, the official car of the show. MyLincoln Touch features an intelligent interface that uses touch-sensitive screens and capacitive sliders to allow the driver to control various aspects of the vehicle, access and interact with stored media, and modify displays within the vehicle for the most ideal driving experience.

“MyLincoln Touch is an example of the future of in-vehicle interaction between the driver and the automobile,” said Paul Anderson, Marketing director, Ford Middle East. “Studies have shown that drivers who take their eyes off the road to adjust audio, climate, and navigation settings are at higher risk of accidents. MyLincoln Touch™ provides capacitive sliders and a touch-screen, as well as steering-mounted controls and voice commands, to help reduce that distraction and provide a better connected driving experience.”

MyLincoln Touch consists of an 8-inch touchscreen mounted on the centre console, supplemented by two customizable smaller screens in the traditional dashboard display behind the steering wheel. Using five-way controls on the steering wheel, or the voice command feature, the driver can set temperature within the automobile, change radio stations or audio tracks, and make and receive calls over a synced mobile telephone. The key benefit of the system is that the driver’s attention is not diverted from the primary task of maneuvering the automobile.
