Together for the ‘Cloud’

GBI ties up with Equinix; to become the Gulf’s first service provider to offer low-latency routes and bandwidth on demand to global cloud service providers

GBI will be joining the Equinix Cloud Exchange in Equinix’s Frankfurt International Business Exchange (IBX) data center.

The agreement will make GBI the first regional service operator to offer low-latency routes, in near real-time provisioning of cloud services from multiple providers (such as Amazon Web Services) for its regional customers. GBI also maintains infrastructure in Equinix’s Dubai IBX data center.

On the occasion of the agreement, Amr Eid, Chief Commercial Officer of GBI, said “More and more of our regional customers are utilizing the cloud infrastructure for backup, storage, network, security and management systems. These customers require low latency, dedicated private connection to the MENA region and access to multiple global cloud service providers.”

Jeroen Schlosser, Managing Director of Equinix MENA, said “GBI will be the first service provider in the region to offer low-latency routes, in near real-time provisioning of cloud services from multiple providers (such as Amazon Web Services) for its regional customers.”

Together, Equinix and GBI will provide enterprises with simple, scalable, direct access to the multiple cloud services they need to build highly flexible hybrid cloud solutions. This removes the security, performance and vendor lock-in concerns holding many organizations back from fully adopting and reaping the benefits of cloud services.
