PURE Storage recognised by Gartner

20% of traditional high-end storage arrays will be replaced by dedicated solid-state arrays (SSAs) by 2019.

In Gartner’s inaugural Magic Quadrant on the Solid State Array market, PURE Storage features in the Leader segment. This clearly indicates the overall transition from disk to flash and how flash has rapidly become a mainstream storage technology capable of replacing Tier 1 storage arrays for a variety of applications and use cases.

According to Gartner, 20% of traditional high-end storage arrays will be replaced by dedicated solid-state arrays (SSAs) by 2019. It further predicts a five-fold revenue growth in 2017 over that in 2014.

The success story of PURE Storage brings to light the increasing willingness of people to embrace new technology. Scott Dietzen, the CEO of Pure Storage says, “Most all of Pure’s success to date has been in replacing Tier 1 mechanical disk arrays with all flash. We expect this trend only to accelerate with industry projections showing the cost of flash dropping below that of “fast” 10K and 15K rpm spindles in a couple of years (and that’s without the flash-friendly deduplication and compression that Pure introduced to the market in 2011”.
