What leadership skills are critical for women in male-dominated tech environments?

In my experience, confidence and resilience are key. You need to believe in your ideas and yourself, even when you’re the only woman in the room. Empathy is another crucial skill—understanding and connecting with your team helps build trust and fosters a collaborative work environment. Lastly, adaptability is essential. The tech industry moves fast, and the ability to adjust and push forward in challenging situations is a valuable trait for any leader.

How do you advocate for diversity in team composition?

For me, it’s about being intentional when building a team. Diversity isn’t just about gender—it’s about bringing together different perspectives, backgrounds, and ideas. I advocate for inclusive hiring processes, ensuring that everyone has a fair shot at opportunities. Mentorship is also incredibly important—helping women and other underrepresented groups see that they belong and providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed.

What systemic changes would most benefit women in tech?

One of the biggest changes would be ensuring that women have equal access to career advancement opportunities. This means implementing mentorship programs, clear pathways to leadership roles, and strong support systems. Additionally, flexible work policies, such as remote work and flexible hours, would help women balance work and family life without compromising career growth. Finally, encouraging more women to enter tech early through education and mentorship is essential for building a strong pipeline of future leaders.

What advice would you give to women negotiating work-life balance in high-pressure roles?

My advice is: don’t be afraid to set boundaries. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and feel like you have to do it all, but it’s crucial to recognize when you need a break. Prioritize your health and well-being, as that forms the foundation for giving your best at work. Be open about your needs with your team and ensure you’re in an environment where you feel supported. Most importantly, remember that work-life balance looks different for everyone—it’s about finding what works for you.

How can technology itself drive gender equality?

Technology has tremendous potential to create more equal opportunities. For instance, AI-powered hiring processes can help eliminate bias, ensuring that women receive the same opportunities as their peers. Tech also facilitates flexible work arrangements, allowing women to better manage career and personal responsibilities. Additionally, creating platforms where women can connect, share knowledge, and support one another can help empower more women to succeed in tech.
